The cuttings we planted ten years ago have formed a thick hedge. I feel a pang of guilt when I see it. The original plants were bought from Woolworths and I thought they were dead-and got a refund. Shortly after Woolies went bust.
The game cock made contact this morning. He has a very wide oven-ready chest which he sticks out in a quite menacing way. He was diverted by one of the Black Rocks but I will keep an eye out for him.

hens
My croft here on the Black Isle is populated by hens, ducks, sheep and llamas. Today we planted our potatos. This involves me sitting on a plastic chair on the back of the tractor posting spuds down an iron cylinder-with no safety belt. My game cock is beginning to threaten me. He beats his wings and launched a kung fu style attack when my back was turned. Apparently the remedy is to pluck out one of his feathers. May try this tomorrow.
My rhubarb has gone to seed in a quite spectacular way-great waving fronds 6 ft tall. I wonder if they have any medicinal use?
